I'm so excited to be here with you on your journey to Use Every Stamp this year. Today I share with you a tutorial about stamping on fabric. I am crazy for fabric and love to craft with it. There are several ways to alter fabric and using stamps and inks are one way you can create lovely things with just a few scraps and supplies that you already have on hand.
Inks - You can stamp on fabric with most any type
of stamp and any type of ink. The type of projects you are creating
will determine whether or not you should use a permanent ink, like Archival by Ranger or StazOn by Tsukineko. If you will be adding water media like acrylic
paint, gel medium or watercolors on top of your stamped image, you’ll want to use a permanent ink so your image won’t
run.
A good tip is to test various types of inks on a scrap of fabric to see how the image will stamp. Below I've used cheap ol' muslin to test out a few different kinds of ink pads I own. This lets me know which ink pads may work best on a certain type of fabric. (It also let me know I needed to re-ink my StazOn pad!) If
you make a test swatch of fabric you always have that to go back to later on as
reference for your next project.
Fabrics - The weave of
the fabric will dictate how well an image will print, but try several types of
fabric to see what you get. You may like the “hit or miss” look of an open
weave fabric like burlap or the texture of silk.

But added hand or machine stitching is always "allowed”
