Let me show you how!Join me for this class to design and create most all of the elements for any “Project Life”-type of system you prefer, no matter what the page protector size or configuration. By using your Cricut machine, cartridges and the Cricut Craft Room (CCR) or your Gypsy, you’ll be ready to quickly and easily document your life and the lives of those you love. And you'll really be putting that Cricut to good use!!

This class includes:

• An introduction to “Project Life” and other manufacturers who offer a similar type of system.Maybe you want to use this system for “A Day in the Life”, “A Week in the Life” or, like me, for all of your regular scrapbooking. It's all good!
• Determine which Cricut cartridges and images will give a look that is similar to the types of products available on the market today.
• Create elements for all sizes and types of albums or page protector configurations.
• Creating elements such as journaling cards, monthly dividers, transparent elements, elements with cut outs and more!
• Create with cardstock,patterned papers, transparencies, Cricut Markers and other coloring tools.
• Included in this class are loads of CCR and Gypsy files for download. BUT students will also learn how to recreate the components and design files so that no matter what theme you choose for your album, now or years from now, you’ll have the knowledge to create the elements yourself.

Prerequisite: This is an Intermediate/Advanced course. Students must have full knowledge of how to use their Cricut machine AND the Cricut Craft Room AND/OR Gypsy, if they choose to design with it. Both types of files will be available.

Class begins: Monday June 17th.
Length: 5 Lessons all open on start date so you can work at your own pace!

Students will learn how to monoprint on several plate surfaces using a variety of tools you can probably find in your home and some that will be handmade. Using acrylic and textile paints, you will create your own paper and fabric backgrounds that will be perfect in your next art project. But we're not finished when the paint is dry. We'll make four projects with both paper and fabric including a paper art quilt, a journal, a NO SEW fused fabric tote, and a funky patchwork pencil case (sewing required). Weekly instructional videos included!

I'm Mad for Mono-Printing!

Hello! I'm Catherine Scanlon, instructor at My Creative Classroom. I've been with MCC for a LONG time and really enjoy sharing and teaching what I know about art and crafting. You can check out all my classes here and you can check out my personal blog here!
 
Today I wanted to share a little bit about “Mad for Monoprinting, an online class I’m teaching along with my pal and MCC Mentor Shirley Pando at My Creative Classroom. (Shirley is AWESOME, btw! She not only teaches great classes here at MCC but she takes care of the Help Desk and helps me with all my classes. Any problems you have go to her -- she's a pro at handling them all!)

Mad for Monoprinting is a 6-lesson Workshop that starts on Friday, March 22nd. This course is packed full of videos, tutorials and projects where you'll create unique, one-of-a-kind backgrounds with both paper and fabric using the monoprinting technique. 

I also thought you might enjoy a quick little video demonstrating how I made my own background paper and then turned it into the beautiful card I've shown below.  

I don't think I mention this in the video, but the stamp is an old wooden batik stamp from India that I picked up at a flea market last year -- it works great with the Gelli Plate -- AND it counts as a STAMP.  ;-D For this project I ended up using 2 of the wood batik stamps, 1 rubber stamp from Inkadinkado and 1 clear stamp.

Today I'm here to let you know about “Mad for Monoprinting”, an online class I’m teaching along with Catherine Scanlon at My Creative Classroom. This 6-lesson Workshop class begins on Friday, March 22nd and features loads of videos, tutorials and projects where you'll create unique, one-of-a-kind backgrounds with both paper and fabric using the monoprinting technique.

Monoprinting is a form of printmaking where the images can only be made once. And that is truly the beauty of the monoprint…each one is an original! 

 

For class, Catherine and I will be using with the 8" x 10" Gelli Arts Printing Plate but we’ll also have a recipe for you to create your own plate from unflavored gelatin.   

 

We’ll talk about everything you’ll need to know to create gorgeous prints from papers and fabrics.

We'll cover, paints and tools (some you can find in your home...and yes, stamps are one type of tool you can use on a print plate)....techniques and much, much more.  

You’ll learn unique tips and techniques from both of us as we each create in a different way. The best part of that? No one way is “right”. Creating art is experimental and should be a fun play time. And as adults we don’t get enough play time, right?

Are you intrigued? We’d love for you to join us and take the leap into monoprinting. (Most of the supplies I bet you already have on hand.) Come create unique, one-of-a-kind prints on paper and fabric that can be turned into projects of many kinds. In class we’ll create four projects worthy of giving as a gift. (But you may want to make two of each, like I did...one to give as a gift and one for me to keep!)

Guest designer, stamping on fabric and Giveaway!

I'm so excited to be here with you on your journey to Use Every Stamp this year. Today I share with you a tutorial about stamping on fabric. I am crazy for fabric and love to craft with it.  There are several ways to alter fabric and using stamps and inks are one way you can create lovely things with just a few scraps and supplies that you already have on hand.

Inks - You can stamp on fabric with most any type of stamp and any type of ink. The type of projects you are creating will determine whether or not you should use a permanent ink, like Archival by Ranger or StazOn by Tsukineko. If you will be adding water media like acrylic paint, gel medium or watercolors on top of your stamped image, you’ll want to use a permanent ink so your image won’t run.

A good tip is to test various types of inks on a scrap of fabric to see how the image will stamp. Below I've used cheap ol' muslin to test out a few different kinds of ink pads I own. This lets me know which ink pads may work best on a certain type of fabric. (It also let me know I needed to re-ink my StazOn pad!)  If you make a test swatch of fabric you always have that to go back to later on as reference for your next project.

Fabrics - The weave of the fabric will dictate how well an image will print, but try several types of fabric to see what you get. You may like the “hit or miss” look of an open weave fabric like burlap or the texture of silk.

But added hand or machine stitching is always "allowed”.
