Project #57, plus a blog giveaway!

Happy Friday,

Well I just could not help myself.  I found a few extra minutes and made a quick card. :)  A bit of a warning about the post....it is going to be a long one.  But don't say I did not warn you. I have a lot to share today.

First: I have a brand new class!  Yes, me!  I rarely have time to teach and lately and I have pulled away from even teaching group classes as it was just becoming too hard to manage everything.  Over the past year I have been playing with Gelatos.  I must admit at 1st I hated them.  And they sat, unused, for a very long time.  Which totally bugs me.

So I started to research and play and research some more and play some more.  Now they are one of my most favorite products to work with. I hope you join me for this wonderful, one week class.  I will show you the good, bad and ugly of working with the product. Plus you will learn my favorite techniques and why I reach for them over and over again.

Gelatos are taking the crafting world by storm! They have been around for awhile, but have recently caught fire. These water-soluble, pigment sticks have tons of versatility. They work beautifully on canvas, watercolor paper, card stock and more.

Join me as we explore this art medium in depth. We will explore both dry and wet options. We will test seven paper types, including:
  • Hot Press Watercolor Paper
  • Cold Press Watercolor Paper
  • Canvas
  • Canvas Paper
  • Sticky Back Canvas (Ranger Industries)
  • Card Stock
  • Aged Book Paper
Then we will pull it all together and create two beautiful cards using what we have learned.

Gelatos are a wonderful option for adding color to your projects. they are easy to store and fun to collect. smile But learning to use them takes some practice. I will share my favorite tips and techniques. The results will amaze you....and hopefully leave you Color Inspired!

Start Date: August 9th
Price: $15

Project #57: Note Card
This week's card features Gelatos......of course!  I should also mentioned that I used a new border punch from EK Success and no matter how hard I tried the cuts would not line up properly.  That one may be headed back to the store.

Supplies: Stamps (Just Rite Stampers-Kindness and Unknown-Flower), Card Stock, Gelatos, Border Punch (EK Success), Corner Punch (Martha Stewart), Trim, Die (Spellbinders), Ink, Embossing Powder, Pop-Dots and Metal Rim Tag.

*************Giveaway Alert************
One lucky winner will receive a free seat to this class.  Just leave a post on this thread telling me about the  most unused product in your stash.  You have until Midnight on Wednesday, July 31st to enter.  I will post the winner on August 1st.  Good Luck!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to post your work below.

  8. This is an easy question for me right now, how about EVERYTHING! Seriously, I have not crafted in over 5 months now. Have been lurking around some sites and have wanted to get back to my crafting but since the loss of my mother I just can't seem to get back to anything. Thanks for the chance to win, it may be just what I need.

  24. I saw Gelatos used in a project and bought some. I tried them once and hated them. I would love to take the class who knows my hate relationship with them might turn into a love affair. Thanks for the chance to win a seat.

Sorry you had problems with the border punch. I thought it was just me. Mine was a gift so I didn't feel like I could return it.

    Have a Great week!

  25. Right now my most unused product is my Cricut. I got a hand me down Cricut with a couple font cartridges. But, I need to get a few shapes and other cartridges besides fonts. I need to pull it out and get a new cartridge. Thanks for a chance to win this class, it sounds awesome. I have been intrigued by Gelatos.

  26. I don't use the Pan Pastels. I tried it once and when I ran my finger over my finished project - they smeared. UGH. So I went back to using my old self-sealing chalks by The Stencil Collection(which don't smear)!

I have a few gelato's but really don't know how to use them, even after watching a couple of YouTube videos. LOL

  27. I have a LOT of Gelatos! I have used some as watercolors, but that is about it. I think I would love them if I knew how to use them better, so winning a spot in the class would be wonderful!!! I think my punches are not used as well as they might be, so I am making Christmas cards for a class I teach with a friend and every one will have a punched element--especially border punches as I seem to always have issues with them coming out even! : )

  28. I bought some of those fusable fibers and I never use them. I should--they are pretty.

  29. Hmm - that's tough call, but I'd say my bind-it-all or my stampress. Perhaps it is time to sell them. :/

  30. I have lots of products that go unused for long periods of time. I guess my most used supply right now are my pan pastels. I love them, I just use them much.

  33. Glitter, glitter, glitter...that has come up so often. I have a wonderful box of Martha Stewart Glitters in MANY colors that I drove about 50 miles out of my way on a trip to purchase. They are real pretty but never used. I need to address that. Gelatoes sound like fun. I am in my painting phase right now. :)

  35. Uh oh... this question is a bad one for me. I have too many unused products. I guess the worst one is the Copic markers that I spent too much money on, though. After investing so much in them I really need to use them. Thanks so much for the chance to win a seat in your class!! I also have Gelatos that I haven't used!

  36. I guess my most unused product would have to be my Melt It Pot from Ranger, along with the Utee powders. I had good intentions but got put off by deadlines on other things.

  40. I'm a great hoarder so I have a lot of things I don't use but I think my worst thing is my huge stash of ephemera. I love to buy it and look at it but I don't want to give it up to a project.

  41. My most unused product would also have to be the Melt It Pot from Ranger. Had it over a year and it still isn't open. Would love to take the Gelatos class. I borrowed some and had no clue how to use them so gave them back
