Supplies:
- clear embellishments, as you can see I am digging deep into my stash for this one. Please tell me someone else has ghost shapes too.
- an embossing folder, my personal preference is a small tight pattern so the shape is covered.
- foam adhesive.
- an embellishment to hide the adhesive.
For this example I embossed 2 flowers with the Swiss Dots folder and then adhered them together with a foam dot. If you really want to keep it simple you can leave the flower as is and it still looks nice.
Here is my flower with a button covering the foam dot. It looks cute this way too. I didn't add thread to my button because I used a butterfly sticker on my final flower.
I hope this will inspire you to pull out your acrylic embellishments and use them differently. The thank you card I used it on is one of the examples in Fun and Fabulous Folds, so I can't show you the entire card.

ReplyDeleteCute stuff- LOVE that flower!! Favorite tool... probably my Cutter-bee scissors because I seem to fussy cut everything.
ReplyDeleteI love that flower and now you have given me an idea of cutting flowers out of clear contact paper or plastic that always seems to come with things you buy. Oh and that Swiss Dots embossing folder seems to be the one I use the most. I so love it.
ReplyDeleteI would say my favorite tool has to be my Silhouette Cameo because I can cut so many different materials with it and make my own embellishments.
I do have on my list to buy some kind of score tool. Just not sure which yet to buy.
Very pretty use of the embossing folders on the clear flowers! Love it. Thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI had a slow start but I am all caught with your postings. I've been organizing my stamps and have probably changed my system 3 times already but I think I got it down this time. Now I can start using them along with you.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to tell you one favorite tool I would have to say my ATG tape runner. It is a little big but for us crafters are always using adhesives, the ATG is very economical especially when you get 2 rolls in a pack and use a 50% or 40% coupon.
I will keep my fingers crossed that I'm the winner of a wonderful MCC class..
Am still plugging along trying to get organized but life keeps getting in my way. I will get there eventually. Thanks for your patience. I love the flowers with embossing and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tools are my ATG gun and cricut it was hard to pick just one so went with 2. Love both

I think I was first WOW'd by my Cuttlebug! It opened a whole new world of crafting to me!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd have to say my favorite paper crafting tool is the Big Shot because I can use many different kinds of dies with it. I especially like that I can cut so many materials with it - including acrylic. You've just inspired me to go cut some nice acrylic flowers. Then I can emboss them in that same Big Shot using some fun embossing folders!
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be my Cuttlebug !! It was my very first big purchase in the crafting world of goodies and I have never stopped using it !! Really hope I am lucky !!
ReplyDeletehugs Diane xx

Cool shapes. Looks like fun. My fave tool right now is my new Cricut. I need to get a few more fun cartridges, but I love it. thanks.

I just love, love, love that you are using some of your older embellishments. This has really inspired me to do the same. When you do different things with them, they become new again! I even pulled out some magic mesh the other day. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my favorie other than my trimmer would be the many diffrent adhesives I use. I tend to use more than one on every project.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your talent with us all.
Love the acrylic flower, that looks like dotted swiss. Great idea! Can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteSorry, forgot to add my favorite tool. Mine US the Big Shot. Because you can cut and embellish with it by using by using an embossing folder like you did with the flower. I love that idea. I've never thought to do that with acrylics.
DeleteI adore embossing folders. Taking plain smooth paper and give it texture and patterns is fun.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win a seat. :)
Yes, I have a few ghost shapes down in the bottom of a drawer. Maybe I'll dig them out and try embossing them. That's a great idea! My favorite tool, at the moment, has to be my BigKick along with the many, many dies and embossing folders. They add so much to any card and they're easy to use. The folding class sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteFavorite tool - definitely tweezers - great for picking and placing embellishments, removing the backing on adhesives, getting fingers out of the way to see where to place something
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! Even though I am still in the learning curve, my new Silhouette is rapidly becoming my favorite tool. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

ReplyDeleteA favorite tool of mine is the Tim Holtz see thru ruler (although isn't every crafting tool a favorite?) I do use this ruler everyday and almost every hr. I craft. Thanks for all the wonderful crafting ideas and love the swiss dots flower!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! It's so difficult to narrow down to just one favorite tool! But, I guess at this time it has to be my Big Kick. I don't think I've ever made a card that didn't have at least one thing on it that was done using the Big Kick. I love embossing and die cutting and all kinds of dies end EFs and couldn't use any of them without the Big Kick.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool would be my Anna Griffin embossing folders, perfect for this project.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool would be my paper trimmer, couldn't do ANYTHING without out! But I would love to win a seat in this class so I can use my scoring board. Thanks for the chance!

ReplyDeleteMmm yes I have a packet of ghost shapes (somewhere) like your idea on how to use them. I guess my favourite tool would have to be glue products, I tend to stick everything down. Depending on the project it is either (love, love) double sided tape or liquid glue or glue stick.
ReplyDeleteWell I think I just answered the question...LOL Double sided tape.
My most used and favorite is my new Stampin' Up! Paper trimmer. Next would be stamps and inks.
ReplyDeleteLove my Tonic scissors. They cut through wire and plastic like butter.
ReplyDeleteMY FAVORITE TOOL TO USE IS THE CUTTER BEE TWEEZERS. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I OWN AT LEAST 6 OF THEM. THEY HELP ME WITH ALL THE LITTLE PIECES THAT MY CRICUT CUTS AND ANYTHING WITH GLUE TO GET THEM ALL IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
ReplyDeleteLove my Spellbinders and Sizzix dies. I think I have some ghost letters, somewhere in my stash/hoarde. Need to try this. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! I definately need to try that. I don't think I could accomplish much without my Fiskars paper trimmer - ya gotta start most everything with cutting paper, right?
ReplyDeleteLove learning new things-I never thought of embossing plastic! My Cuttlebug is my favorite-I love to emboss!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is cuttlebug...I love the embossed look on the paper...Of course everything else is my favorite also...lol...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is my Cricut Expression.
ReplyDeleteThough I have a Zing, I find myself returning to my big shot and spellbinders type dies. So easy to use!
ReplyDeleteNot sure post worked so here goes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and a tease. Have ghost shapes that seemed I good idea but not much used.
My Tim Holtz Vagabond(sp). My arthritis was making cutting and embossing hard so a really good investment.
Sitting on my craft table is my Big Shot and my box of dies and embossing folders. They are probably used on every card.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool is my Cuttlebug to use all of the dies and embossing folders available, but a close second is my piercing tool. I can use it for piercing papers, but also for popping out small pieces in die cuts, poking holes in paper for brads, and all kinds of things! Thanks for the great ideas! --Yvonne
ReplyDeleteJeri, I received this comment last night via email.
